FAIL!
4th Open Call - ScArt
FAILure is part of our everyday life.,. A fail is something to avoid, the opposite of success, which pervades our society and economical system.
Using the language of memes, the FAIL becomes representative of a culture, the research of undermining the need or even the definition of success that this society seems to obsess over; FAILure is a research horizon, a new life model, more psychological and ethically speaking sustainable. Failure therefore becomes a symptom of humanity and the acknowledgement of its natural vulnerability.Online, FAIL is an omnipresent topic, explored both in its lighter and playful aspect and at a more deeply existential level. In its more potent variant the «epic fail», is used to define a situation of clear defeat, a particularly ridiculous failure, so spectacular it becomes a victory.
Creative solutions can emerge from failure and so it is essential that we re-examine our relationship with it. FAILure is a driver for discovery. As history teaches, innovation and research are often the result of error: taking the wrong path is often necessary to reach uncharted territories, both in the arts and in science.
