In which level of time do you live ?
What comes to mind when you think of TIME?
When I think of the word TIME, I am reminded of the idea of a limited but divisible continuity in correspondence with the unfolding of certain phenomena and the duration of certain actions or conditions (for example, the continuation of something for a long or long time, ...);
Although time is often referred to as something absolute, cadenced and objective, I strongly believe in its plasticity and I find fascinating its capacity for expansion and contraction relative to what is happening at the same time.
Tell us what you would like to explore more that relates to TIME
The Greek philosophers divided time into three aspects: the time of the ego and of material life, the time of the soul and the time of the self.
by time of the self we mean time of creative advance, the timeliness with which our soul suggests an opportunity to be seized that allows us to free our actions from the yoke of time, awakening the hypnotism of the ego.
Considering the multifaceted nature of time, as described above, is it possible to find a correlation between the progressive expansion of the universe, as a spatial factor, and the acceleration of production times or rhythms of life due to technological progress?
How does TIME affect you or those around you, is it a positive or negative thing?
I believe that time is a double-edged sword, you have to be skilled in managing it and in riding time as it flows when you are very busy or you feel a lot of pleasure and expands when you face a pain that time itself will heal. Around me I see people frightened by time, because maybe they have ended an adult relationship and do not have time to start a new one, I see people who pursue their passions without ever reaching them and they think they are wasting time, I see people working hard and then earning little and eager to monetize the time necessary to achieve the desired result.
I am trying to learn not to be affected by time but to learn friend. I would like time to teach me to have limits when I dwell on something not useful and to expand when I am in a position to learn. I would like to learn to recognize these phases of time and embrace them.
Why does TIME matter to you?
In my opinion, time is important because with its cyclical nature it nourishes and regenerates life. Because if time did not flow, everything would be still and there is no life without time. We are able to enjoy things and have memories precisely because we block them in a specific time giving that fraction of time a meaning. In the specific case of my work, the more time a user spends paying attention to your site, or your instagram page, the more likely they are to buy something of yours.
What do you hope to gain from participating in this Residency programme?
By participating in the residency program, I believe I can gain different interpretations and analysis of time from those in my possession at this moment due to the interaction between art and science, and therefore between time of the soul and the time of life.
What do you feel you could gain from the mentorship aspect of this programme and the connection to artists, scientists, researchers and industry makers?
I think it is always very interesting to have the opportunity to deal with personalities and professionalism different from mine.
I believe that it can favor the acquisition and structuring of a complexity of thought at first regarding the matter of the TIME and then at the rest, more articulated.
I would feel very grateful for such a possibility
What do you wish your peers cared about more and how does this issue connect to the theme of TIME?
I would like my peers to deal with these residences conscious of the value of time in order to use them in the best possible way both for themselves and for those who participate in the residence with them.I would like them to be supportive in the face of the difficulties of some of the participants, where someone may not have logged in in time or had difficulties due to factors external to the residence. I would like them to be curious so that I can stimulate the residency mentors to provide unscheduled information and suggestions.
Tell us about something that you saw or read about recently (any topic), share why you found it interesting and how you believe it impacts young people.
Recently I have read two very beautiful books, the first is called ”I fili della vita“ and talks about the history of embroidery as a means of expression and stories of peoples (ex: the embroideries that children made in Nazi concentration garments, those made on the shirts of strength of women locked up in psychiatric clinics, medieval tapestries that told the stories of conquest of the various aristocrats of the time, etc ..).
I think this novel can be an interesting analysis for young people as it tells of how different people have found an outlet for their emotions in a visual art.
The second, and more incisive, “is a message for an eagle that believes itself to be a chicken”.
In this book, the author Anthony De Mello recalls that often "life is that thing that happens to us while we are busy doing other projects", while we fall asleep waiting for something to happen.
His is not just an invitation, it is a scream: "Awake!". With great humor and so much simplicity, between Indian parables, jokes, funny stories, he leads us to open our eyes, to get rid of the many labels that others attach to us and behind which we ourselves sometimes hide, and to take in hand every aspect of our life. The key word is "awareness" and, through a path made up of short chapters to meditate and simple exercises, it leads us into the intimacy of ourselves, to the discovery of our true needs and desires, and helps us to discover who we really are and where do we want to go. His message is strong and direct: "Discover yourself and take your life back".
Describe an experience you are proud of where you were part of a team (e.g. studies, work, relationships)
I work as a product manager of a fashion brand, therefore I feel proud to be part of and to coordinate a team of different professionals that together, every season, releases thousands of garments.
I believe that working as a team allows you to recognize your limits and to appreciate and value the qualities of other people.
The difficult part of working in a team begins when you are unable to reconcile incompatible personalities but time smooths out these edges too, forcing everyone to find compromises first with themselves and then with those in front of you to make sure not to block the work of others.
If Science and Art was an animal what would it look like and what would it do?
Art and science are two prerogative disciplines of the human being and consequently it is difficult to find a correspondence in the animal kingdom.
However, I would associate art with those birds that in love open their fans of colorful feathers inspired by the duty to reproduce or by the song of birds in cages. I would associate science with bees that industriously work to feed their queen, with chameleons that transform themselves to defend themselves and with those species that finalize an action with a purpose of non-violence but which serves them in some way to survive.
#arts, #complex-systems, #humanities, #innovation, #interdisciplinary, #opportunity, #science, #superpowers. #wellbeing,
